Meet the Undertow Coaches
Catherine Green - Director of Coaching and U19 Team Coach
I have been playing field hockey since 2009. I am an Undertow alumna and have been coaching with Undertow for the past 5 years. Outside of Undertow, I am an assistant coach at Maggie L. Walker Governor's School. I took a break from field hockey when I attended college at UVA, studying Political Philosophy and Economics. However, my love for the game brought me back when I returned to Richmond. I consider myself a student of the game, absorbing as much field hockey as I can by continuing to play and advance my own skills, watching NCAA and International Field Hockey regularly, and taking courses to improve my coaching skills. When I'm not coaching or playing field hockey, you can find me teaching my 8th grade Civics and Economics students or out at the barn with my horse.
James Myers - U16 Team Coach and Goalie Coach
I've been playing field hockey since 2001 with regional and mid-Atlantic adult club teams. I've cohed for the last 18 years at the club level working with teams at National Hockey Festival, Disney Showcases, NIT, regional tournaments, and several years with the Virginia Commonwealth Games representing the Piedmont area. I graduated from Virginia Tech in the late 90's with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering, spent 25 years in industry and am currently teaching Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing at the Chesterfield Technical Center.
Sydney Duimstra - U14 Team Coach
I began playing field hockey in 2009 and am actually a former Undertow player myself! I continued to play field hockey when I attended Randolph-Macon College, where I studied Communications, Writing, and Journalism. While in school, I was a volunteer field hockey coach for the YMCA and refereed many local tournaments. After graduating, I began refereeing in my free time and joined Undertow as a volunteer coach during the 2022-2023 Indoor season. I am thrilled to have the chance to grow the game, and am looking forward to giving your athletes the same opportunity I was once given. Field hockey has been such an impactful part of my life and I can't wait to pass along my love for the sport. Outside of field hockey, I do content creation for a Richmond Financial Technology company and am an avid trail runner/hiker.
Stephanie Clark - U12 Coach
At Christopher Newport University I focused on field hockey for all four years, was Rookie of the Year my freshman year, 2nd Team All-American and was the team's captain my senior year. From CNU I went on to coach field hockey at Shenandoah University. After moving to the Richmond area I became the Head Field Hockey Coach at Manchester High School for four years, where I also coached girls Lacrosse. I have continued to coach for FUTURES (a Field Hockey Junior Olympic training program, now called NEXUS) and have coached soccer for Chesterfield Strikers U14 girls team, OwnTouch indoor soccer training and Futsal.
